Can you name all the US presidents without peeking? This name all the US presidents challenge gives you ten minutes to type all 45 people who have held the office, from George Washington to Donald Trump. Grover Cleveland and Trump served nonconsecutive terms, so each counts once. Unique surnames work on their own, but the Adamses, Harrisons, Johnsons, Roosevelts and Bushes need a first name.

About this game

There have been 47 presidencies but only 45 presidents, because Grover Cleveland (the 22nd and 24th) and Donald Trump (the 45th and 47th) each served two nonconsecutive terms. The office has passed through several family pairs: John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams, William Henry Harrison and his grandson Benjamin, cousins Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, and George H. W. Bush and his son George W.

The modern names come easily; the trouble zone for most players is the stretch between Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, and again between Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Work in eras: the founders, the pre-Civil War run of one-term presidents, the Gilded Age, the world wars, and the postwar era. Short tenures are easy to miss, so remember the presidents who died in office or took over midterm, such as John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, Chester A. Arthur and Gerald Ford.
