This 80s trivia quiz rewinds to the decade of arcade games, big hair and brand-new home computers. You'll revisit chart-topping albums, a famous volcanic eruption, the early days of the space shuttle and the gadgets and toys that took over America. Whether you grew up with a Walkman or just love the retro style, it's a fun ten-question trip back to 1980 to 1989.

Remembering the 1980s

The 1980s gave America a fresh wave of pop culture and home technology. Video games had a rough patch after a market crash in 1983, when many stores wrote them off as a passing fad. Then Nintendo tested its Entertainment System in New York City in October 1985 and rolled it out nationwide the following year, helping bring home gaming roaring back.

It was also a decade of big shared moments. On July 13, 1985, the Live Aid concerts ran at the same time at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, raising money for famine relief in Ethiopia. At holiday time in 1983, Cabbage Patch Kids dolls were so hard to find that shoppers scuffled in store aisles, and each doll came with its own adoption papers.

To do well on a decade quiz, build a rough timeline in your head. Sort events into early, middle and late in the decade, and use anything you remember personally, like a favorite toy or a school year, as an anchor. Many things we take for granted today, from cable TV to personal computers, really took off in these years, which makes the '80s a great decade to look back on.
