This Star Wars quiz takes you through the saga films with questions on famous family ties, desert planets, Jedi Masters, legendary music and the people behind the camera. Casual viewers will find plenty of easy wins, while a couple of trickier questions will challenge anyone who has watched the trilogies on repeat. Dust off your lightsaber and see how well you know the galaxy.
George Lucas built Star Wars from a mix of influences he loved. He grew up watching Flash Gordon movie serials, and he also borrowed ideas from Akira Kurosawa's samurai film The Hidden Fortress and from books about the heroic journeys found in myths around the world. The result blended space adventure, westerns and fairy tales into something audiences had never quite seen before.
The main saga is told in nine numbered episodes, grouped into three trilogies. The original trilogy came first, then the prequel trilogy from 1999 to 2005 went back in time to show how the galaxy fell into darkness, and the sequel trilogy from 2015 to 2019 picked up the story decades later. The first film didn't even carry its now-famous episode number and subtitle until a 1981 rerelease added them to the opening crawl.
Because the episodes weren't released in story order, a fun way to keep them straight is to think in generations: parents in the prequels, their children in the original trilogy, and a new crop of heroes in the sequels. Watching for recurring places, ships and droids is another good memory aid, since the saga loves to echo itself across the decades.
