A friendly warm-up. Great for all ages and family game night.

From lonely robots to talking toys and fretful fish, this Pixar quiz covers the studio's best-loved feature films. You'll name characters, match famous voices to their roles and spot a few studio firsts along the way. It's a friendly warm-up for family movie night, and anyone who has watched a few Pixar favorites should feel right at home.

How Pixar built its movie magic

Pixar started life as a computer graphics group inside George Lucas's company, Lucasfilm, and grew into its own studio in Emeryville, California, just across the bay from San Francisco. Disney bought it in 2006, yet the studio kept its reputation for reworking stories again and again, sometimes for years, until the emotional beats land. That patience is a big reason grown-ups cry at movies about toys, cars and fish.

Pixar fans love hunting for in-jokes. The code A113, the number of a classroom at CalArts where many of the studio's animators studied, turns up on license plates, doors and screens across the films. The boxy yellow Pizza Planet delivery truck makes cameos in many movies too, and characters from upcoming releases are often tucked into the backgrounds of earlier ones.

To do well here, think about the films the way the studio does: each one is built around a single big "what if," like what if toys were alive or what if feelings had jobs. Remember that hook and the characters usually come right back to you. Famous comedians and character actors fill many of the voice roles, so a familiar voice is a good clue.
