Halloween is the one night everyone gets to embrace their inner creature, so which classic monster are you? This Halloween personality quiz asks about your sleep habits, party style and secret talents, then matches you with a charming vampire, a loyal werewolf, a clever witch or a mischievous ghost. It's all treats, no frights.
Halloween has roots in Samhain, a Gaelic festival that marked the end of the harvest and the start of the dark half of the year. Celebrations began on the evening of October 31, when the boundary between the living and the spirit world was believed to grow thin. Irish and Scottish immigrants brought many of these customs to North America in the 1800s, including carving lanterns. Back home they used turnips, but in America pumpkins turned out to be bigger and much easier to carve.
The monsters we dress up as come from centuries of folklore, old superstitions and later from novels and films that turned scary legends into pop culture icons. Each classic creature carries its own mood and its own set of rules, which makes them surprisingly good stand-ins for personality types.
This quiz asks about your costume habits, sleep schedule, party behavior, favorite treat and hidden talents. Each answer leans toward one of four classic monsters, and whichever collects the most of your answers is your match. There are no wrong answers, and it's spooky fun rather than a psychological test, so answer honestly and share your result before the trick-or-treaters arrive.
