This Christmas movie quiz asks how you decorate, what you do on a snow day and what makes the holidays feel complete, then matches you with one of four beloved holiday films. Are you all-out cheer, clever independence, go-big family chaos or quiet small-town kindness? It's a lighthearted personality quiz, so pass it around the family before your next holiday movie night.
Holiday movies have a way of turning into family traditions. Plenty of households watch the same few films every December, repeating favorite scenes at the dinner table and arguing over which one has to come first. Part of the appeal is comfort: you already know how the story ends, and that's the point. The other part is personality, since the movie you reach for usually says a lot about how you like to celebrate.
Some classics took a winding road to get there. A Christmas Story opened in November 1983 to modest box office numbers, then won over fans through cable and local TV airings. In 1997, the cable channel TNT began running it as a 24-hour marathon from Christmas Eve into Christmas Day, and in 2012 the Library of Congress added it to the National Film Registry.
Here's how this quiz works. Each of the seven questions has four answers, and every answer nudges you toward one of four holiday films. There are no wrong choices, so go with your gut rather than whichever answer sounds most festive. It's just for fun, not a psychological test, and it's even better when the whole family takes it and compares results before picking tonight's movie.
