What your coffee order says about you

A few decades ago, ordering coffee in America mostly meant choosing between regular and decaf. Today a café menu can run to dozens of drinks, each with its own mix of milk, foam, ice, sweetness and strength, and the one you reach for every morning has quietly become a small piece of self-expression. People notice: baristas and friends alike tend to form opinions about the person behind the order.

Much of this menu is surprisingly young. Angelo Moriondo, an Italian businessman, received a patent for an early steam-driven coffee machine in 1884, and the cafe culture built around espresso spread around the world through the twentieth century. Spiced tea drinks have an even longer history in India, where the word chai simply means tea.

This quiz asks about your mornings, breakfasts, texting habits and favorite places to work, then matches you with one of four drinks that suits your style. Each answer nudges you toward a result, and the drink with the most matches wins. There are no wrong answers, and it's a lighthearted personality quiz rather than a serious assessment, so answer honestly, enjoy your result and maybe treat yourself to that drink afterward.
